Queen bee...day.98162014

{soft buzzing of the bee colony}, Coverdale Honeybee Colony

Having been to Coverdale Farms many times I was expecting to have outdoor entertainment for the little one for a few...

the new bee colony change that, like with every experience in life you must be open to learn...

I was entertained and I learned...

[the honey bee expert]

What I learned
  • the life cycle of the bee (from first cell formed to death) is only 30-45 days
  • the Queen bee is cultivated into a queen and will be replaced if she is not doing her job
    and about that Queen
  • bees swarm the queen in a circle to protect queen
  • there can only be one queen in a colony; a new queen will kill the old queen if one doesn't leave the colony to begin another
  • the colony can not survive without the queen
  • queen has her own bees whose sole purpose is to wait on the queen and protect the queen
Ahhhh the life of the Queen Bee...
