Hoping for something to shoot
Sitting in my backyard hideaway after midnight, I waited for something to happen
I felt defeated, thinking today I'd shoot a wall -a blank wall- because today's canvas came up empty

I turn to enter the the house, when I look up and see someone praying for me...

Praying Mantis (Mantis religiosa) 

Just because I'm a nerd at heart (possibly by sight) I decided to learn more about tonight's muse. Most notable were: (1) Mantids are closely related to cockroaches and termites (2) female Mantids sometimes eat their mates.
